Source: Greenville News (August 13, 2019) – Homes in Mauldin sell faster than anywhere else in South Carolina, according to new new data released by financial advice website SmartAsset.com.
Mauldin homes average 37 days on the market. No other Upstate cities cracked the top 10, which ranked as follows, according to SmartAsset:
- Mauldin (37 days)
- Oak Grove (53.1 days)
- Cayce (57.3 days)
- North Charleston (69.9 days)
- Rock Hill (80.7 days)
- Hanahan (101.1 days)
- Goose Creek (126.6 days)
- Tega Cay (129.9 days)
- Forest Acres (136.6 days)
- Mount Pleasant (141.5 days)
Mauldin real estate agent Craig Bailey, the broker in charge at Joy Baily Real Estate on Butler Road, said the data showing Mauldin’s hot market is in line with what he’s seeing day to day.
“Frankly I’m surprised it’s even that long,” Bailey said of Mauldin’s 37 day average.
Amy Kahn, who moved to Mauldin from New York about six years ago, found the Mauldin’s market to be very competitive as well when she moved to the area.
“They kept selling out from under us,” she said of the homes they put in a spreadsheet.
What is surprising though, Bailey said, is that no other Upstate cities ranked as higher on the list. He expected to see Simpsonville and Greenville right up there alongside Mauldin, he said.
Mauldin’s strong supply of affordable homes is a key to its strong market for sellers, Bailey said.
“It’s more affordable perhaps than if you push toward Greenville,” he said. “You can get a whole lot more house here than you can in downtown Greenville.”
